CHESTERFIELD: Man sorry for posing a threat

editorial image

A MAN landed himself in court after he protested about police arresting his brawling pal.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard how officers saw two men fighting in Stephenson Place, in Chesterfield town centre, at 4am, on December 28.

One was arrested and his friend Lewis Robinson told officers they were “bang out of order” and should let his friend go.

Robinson was pushed away by police, Becky Mahon, prosecuting, told Chesterfield magistrates, but the 22 year-old threw a punch at Pc Adrian Palethorpe which failed to make contact and he was arrested. Robinson, of Hayes Close, Pinxton, admitted using threatening behaviour. Magistrates ordered him to do 80 hours’ unpaid work and pay £85 costs and £80 to a victim fund. Matt Evans, defending, said Robinson is apologetic.
