POLICE have told how an elderly man who was discovered by police with severe head injuries is still in a serious condition.
Officers were called by ambulance crews to Springfield Avenue, Chesterfield, at around 11.30pm, on Friday, February 8.
The 76 year old man was found lying in the road with head injuries, according to police.
He was taken to Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Royal Hospital and later transferred to Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham, where police say he is currently in a serious condition.
Police are keeping an open mind as to how he suffered the injuries and are urging anyone who may have seen the man that evening to contact them.
He is described as white, 5ft 7in tall, of slight build, with short brown, grey hair. He was wearing a brown sheepskin style coat, grey cord trousers, a blue and green check shirt and a grey fleece hat.
