Police have charged 18 men following their alleged involvement disorder at a football match in Chesterfield.
The incidents took place during and after the game between Chesterfield FC and Mansfield Town on Saturday, September 28 at the Proact Stadium.
Police launched an operation into the disorder, which included a specialist team of football intelligence officers, and released a number of CCTV images as part of the inquiry.
A total of 19 men were arrested for public order offences and 18 have been charged. One man received a police caution.
Inspector Glyn Jones, who led the investigation, said: “This has been a complex and thorough investigation. I hope this sends a message to people intent on causing disorder that we will identify and deal with them as robustly as possible. We take a zero tolerance approach to all disorder whether football related or not.
“We have worked hard to maintain and enhance the match day experience at Chesterfield and we thank the public and Chesterfield Football Club for their assistance in this enquiry.”
Colin Nellist, Stadium Manager and Safety Officer at Chesterfield Football Club said: “Chesterfield Football Club is committed to working with the police to ensure those who cause disorder will be removed from the stadium and are not welcome.
“In addition to any orders imposed by the court, we will consider taking our own action by issuing bans against people found to be causing trouble. We will continue to work alongside the police to ensure that matches stay safe for all our supporters.”
