A motorist who opted to drive after a night out is facing the possibility he could lose his job.

Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Friday, December 5, how Kevin Kissane, 33, of Gorse Valley Road, Hasland, parked at a friend’s and after a night out decided to stay in his car before choosing to drive.

Prosecuting solicitor Becky Allsop said police saw Kissane’s vehicle crossing over a white line and followed the car to Eastwood Park where Kissane was breath-tested.

He pleaded guilty to exceeding the alcohol drink-drive limit after the incident in November. Defence solicitor Rebecca Meadows said Kissane had originally not intended to drive and slept first before doing so. She added that a conviction could mean he could lose his job with an IT company.

Magistrates ordered Kissane to pay £373 in a fine, costs and a victim surcharge. He was disqualified from driving for 18 months.
