A protective brother damaged a police station door while trying to alert officers about an assault against his sibling.
Chesterfield magistrates’ court heard on Monday, December 9, how Nicolantonio Degirolamo, 22, of Newbold Road, Chesterfield, had been concerned after he learned his brother had been taken to the station with others.
Ian Shaw, prosecuting, said Degirolamo was concerned his brother had been arrested and after failing to get access to the station by using a buzzer he lashed out at the front door.
Degirolamo pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage after police went after him following the incident last month. Rebecca Meadows, defending, said his brother had been a victim and he felt protective towards him.
Magistrates sentenced Degirolamo to a 12 month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £100 in costs and a victim surcharge.
