ALFRETON: Cops probe suspected distraction burglary

Police are urging people to protect their property online.

Police are urging people to protect their property online.

POLICE are appealing for information after an Alfreton woman’s purse went missing in a suspected distraction burglary.

The victim was at home in Abbott Road when a man called asking if she had seen his dog, which he claimed had been hit by a car before running off.

The man, according to police, said he would leave his mobile number in case the dog turned up and followed the homeowner into the kitchen.

Some time later, the victim realised her purse, which had been in the kitchen and contained cash and bank cards was missing. The offence took place at about 6.30pm on Friday, February 1.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses or anyone with information should call officers on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
