Advice for north Derbyshire residents after cyber attacks

Residents in north Derbyshire are being urged to take extra steps to protect their personal files from cyber criminals.

There has been several reports relating to malicious software called Cryptowall which can take over personal files such as images and documents once it has infected a computer through email links and attachments.

Officers at Derbyshire Constabulary are urging people to install anti-virus and firewall software, set web browser to the highest level of security, make regular backups of files and store them safely and close unwanted connections on business networks.
