A Pleasley man has been spared jail after he head-butted his partner in a drunken rage.

Jason Richard Hole, 21, pleaded guilty to assaulting Kylie Tomlinson on August 12 when he recently appeared at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court.

Hole, of Crompton Road, also admitted damaging a front window at the house and pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody.

District Judge Diane Baker was told Hole had been under the influence of alcohol when he returned to the property and head-butted Miss Tomlinson. Counsel for the defence said Hole was remorseful.

The judge told him: “If you had not entered a guilty plea at an early opportunity we would have been looking at custody.”

Hole was sentenced to 12 weeks’ custody suspended for a year and 60 hours’ unpaid work with a year’s supervision. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a victim surcharge of £80.
