But organisers Glossop Arts and Leisure Association, praised this year’s star attraction Cody’s Wild West Show, the gun slinging performers who wowed audiences with their lassoing and shooting skills.

Jean Ratcliffe, GALA secretary, said: “It had plenty of audience participation with line dancing and activities for the children and was very popular-attracting a large crowd at every show.”

She added that the carnival had been well attended, saying: “We had something for all the family to enjoy and with free entry to the event and in the main the weather was kind to us apart from a heavy shower on Sunday afternoon when everyone ran for cover, the beer tent being especially popular!”
