CUPID’S arrow was bang on target when a romantic couple met during a darts match and went on to celebrate 50 years of marriage.
Jack, 75, and Joan Scaysbrook, 72, of Garrett Green, Danesmoor, met at the George and Dragon pub, at Clay Cross, where Jack was competing in a darts match.
Mrs Scaysbrook said: “Jack was playing darts and I was out with friends and I took a shine to him.”
The couple tied the knot at Chesterfield register office on December 16, 1961.
Mr Scaysbrook, who was a miner, and Mrs Scaysbrook, who was a Co-op shop assistant, went on to have twins Kevin and David. They now also have daughters-in-law Denise and Janet, and grandchildren Kelly, Charlotte and Tom.
They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a family meal at the Oriental Pearl, at Clay Cross, and enjoyed a buffet party with friends and family at the Olde English Pub, at Clay Cross.
Mrs Scaysbrook added: “Our anniversary was made all the more special because our granddaughter Kelly celebrated her 21st birthday in December and our grandson Tommy celebrated his 16th birthday in the same month.”
Mr Scaysbrook is a member of Shirland Golf Club and Sharley Park Bowling Club and Mrs Scaysbrook supports the Salvation Army.
