Sporty types and fitness enthusiasts now have a one-stop shop to find what activities and sporting sessions are available to them thanks to the production of a new guide.
The new North Derbyshire Sport and Physical Activity Directory 2012 has been jointly produced by Bolsover District Council, Chesterfield Borough Council and North East Derbyshire District Council.
This handy directory gives an A to Z run down of what is on offer from walking and jogging to cycling and team sports to activities in leisure centres.
These sports range from the more relaxing such as bowls and fishing to the more energetic such as basketball and trampolining.
Bolsover District Council Leader, Cllr Eion Watts, said: “The directory is aimed at promoting the many sports clubs and activities that are on offer in North Derbyshire and encouraging people to get active and take part in some type of sporting activity.
“It is a handy book and one that will hopefully prove a useful reference tool for people wanting to take part in sport and physical activity.”
As well as listing what activities are on offer, the guide also aims to promote the many sports clubs and organisations in the area with contact details for anyone who may wish to join.
Chesterfield Borough Council Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism, Councillor Nick Stringer said: “We have so many excellent sports clubs, facilities and venues in North Derbyshire and in the twenty-first century it is important that we make them as accessible as possible.
“The Sports Directory will help highlight everything we have to offer, from leisure centres to community activities, as we continue to drive forward our health and well-being agendas all over the region.”
North East Derbyshire District Council Leader, Cllr Graham Baxter MBE, said: “We have great sporting and leisure facilities throughout our region for people of all ages and levels of fitness and ability.
“This easy to use directory is a one-stop-shop guide to helping you get out and about, get healthier and fitter, enjoy our wonderful countryside and meet new people.”
Copies of the directory have been distributed to all schools within North Derbyshire and are available in council buildings and leisure centres and can be downloaded from any of the three council’s websites.
