North East Derbyshire District Council’s new chairman is inviting people to her first official charity fundraising event.

Cllr Tracy Reader, who was elected as chairman of the council in May, has chosen Fairplay – a charity supporting children and young people with disabilities - to benefit from this year’s Chair’s Appeal.

She will be kicking-off fundraising for the good cause with a charity football tournament and fun day on August 17.

The fun will start from 11.30am at Clay Cross Town Football Club.

Cllr Reader said: “I really hope people come along on the day to support us and help raise money for a cause which is close to my heart.”

Entry to the football tournament is just £1 each - payable on the gate.

As well as the football, which will include a penalty shoot-out with Chesterfield FC mascot Chester the Field Mouse at 1pm, other attractions throughout the day will include rides, face painting, climbing wall, bouncy castle, music, stalls, refreshments and a fire engine.
