A council has cooked up a scheme to improve the kitchens at two Dales schools.
Brassington Primary and Grindleford Primary are among a number of schools receiving their share of £164,000 of funding from Derbyshire County Council to update their catering facilities.
The authority had set aside £50,000to fully refurbish the kitchen at Brassington Primary School including new storage and electrical equipment and £18,000 to pay for improved layout and upgrades.
Cabinet member for children and young people Councillor Kevin Gillott said: “We’re facing the biggest squeeze on our budgets we’ve ever known but we are committed to helping our schools offer pupils the best facilities they can.
“The unprecedented cuts we’re facing means money is tight, but we recognise it is important children get a good meal at lunchtime and I am pleased to be able to help improve the kitchens at these schools to help them provide that.”
The authority has funded the latest improvement schemes from a £ contingency fund available due to managing its budget.
