Council battles to clear fallen trees after gales

Highways teams from Derbyshire County Council have been out across the county throughout the night dealing with problems on the roads caused by high winds.

Staff have been clearing fallen trees in the following areas:

Robin Hood Road, Whatstandwell

Furlong Lane, Hognaston

Main Street, Rowsley

Coton Road, Walton-on-Trent

Longway Bank, Whatstandwell

Ash Lane, Etwall

Back Lane, Wessington

A620 Ashford in the Water

A6 Buxton, near Morrisons

A517 Hulland Ward near Belper

Church Street, Church Gresley

Main Street between Linton and Coalville

Portland Avenue, Bolsover

Cross on’th hands, Turnditch

The A608 closed at Church Street/Mansfield Road, Heanor, due to a fallen tree. Diversions between Heanor and Langley Mill were put in place via Hands Road.

Teams have already cleared trees from:

Via Gellia between Cromford and Newhaven

A619 Cutthorpe Road

Long Edge Lane, Wingerworth

Rowton Grange Road, Chapel-en-le-Frith

Derby Road, Ripley

New Road, Middleton-by-Wirksworth

Brookside, Beeley
