POLICE in Staveley are appealing for information following a fire at a community garden.

Firefighters and police were called to the fire at Mastin Moor Community Gardens, Shuttlewood Road, at around 8.30pm, on Tuesday, August 9.

The fire, which covered an area of around 20x10metres was quickly put out.

A group of youths aged between 12 and 15 years-old were seen in the area, according to police, shortly before the fire started.

Officers from the Staveley Safer Neighbourhood Team would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything in the area around the time of the fire.

PCSO Sue Cooke said: “Nuisance behaviour at the community garden is one of our current priorities.

“I would urge anyone with information to come forward so we can take the necessary action against those responsible.”
