Police are appealing for witnesses to the theft of diesel from the British Telecom Exchange on Holland Road, at Old Whittington, Chesterfield, which occurred overnight between Saturday October 8 and Sunday October 9.
The thieves stole diesel from several vehicles on the site and police believe they must have used a quantity of containers to take the stolen fuel away.
PC Stuart Hind who is investigating the crime said: “These people would have been conspicuous as the moved the containers away. They may have been using a vehicle and may have gained access from open land at the rear.
“I’m asking local residents and people who work in the Whittington and Chesterfield areas to contact me if they saw anything unusual or suspicious at the exchange.
“I’d also like to see any CCTV that may have caught the thieves on camera this weekend.”
Anyone who has information should contact PC Hind on 0345 123 3333 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
