Cops hunt armed robber

POLICE are investigating a robbery after a thug hit a pub staff member over the head with a wooden pole and stole a cloth bag full of cash.

The armed offender targeted the man at the King Edward Hotel, on High Street, Tibshelf, about 11.30am, this morning, and fled over a wall at the back of the property.

A police spokesman said: “The victim was carrying a white cloth bag with cash when he was struck over the head and the bag was stolen.”

The male offender was described as wearing a baseball cap, blue trainers, jeans and a coat.

Officers with dog units searched the area in an effort to track down the armed robber and have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries among residents for vital clues.
