Derbyshire Wildlife Trust is organising conservation work parties on its nature reserves in the Wye Valley near Buxton and Rose End Meadows near Cromford. During the summer, these nature reserves are full of wild flowers including several species of orchids, and the work carried out now will ensure that these flowers will thrive next year, providing a riot of colour and food for butterflies, bees and other wildlife.

Volunteers are welcome to come along and join in. No experience is necessary – just bring sensible footwear and waterproof clothing, food and a drink.

Over the coming weeks work parties are planned as follows:

Sunday 10th November Rose End Meadows

Sunday 17th November Priestcliffe Lees

Sunday 24th November Chee Dale

Sunday 1st December Miller’s Dale Quarry

For Chee Dale, Miller’s Dale Quarry and Priestcliffe Lees, meet at 9.30am at Miller’s Dale Station car park, grid ref SK 137732. For Rose End Meadows, meet at 10am at St Mark’s Close, Cromford, grid ref SK 293567. To find out more about the work parties, contact Julia Gow on 07761 103034 or the Trust on 01773 881188.
