CLOWNE: Talk on the story of miner Willie Calow

Clowne

Talk

A talk about “Willie Calow’s Diary, The story of a Clowne Miner.” will be given at Clowne Methodist Church on North Road, Clowne, on Saturday, June 1, starting at 2pm.

Based on a diary kept from 1930 until the day he died in 1972, the presentation will not only introduce the diary but also put it into context, by looking at the times through which he lived. Willie was married in the church in 1913, so to celebrate the centenary, the money raised will be to help with church funds for recent renovations.
