CHESTERFIELD: Tai Chi workshop for Chesterfield M.E. sufferers

Chesterfield

The first network meeting of 2013 was held at Chesterfield Library last month and was attended by 12 members of the Sheffield M.E. Group from the Chesterfield area.

Guest speaker John Wilkinson gave an interesting and informative talk on the art of Tai Chi. He explained the origins of this therapeutic activity and how Tai Chi involves the mind working with the body and spirit. Tai Chi has a number of benefits such as improving co-ordination, concentration, control of movement and blood circulation.

John gave a chair-based workshop session to show how Tai Chi can be adapted for people with mobility problems which the group found very enjoyable. John is planning on starting a Tai Chi class for people affected by ME/CFS. For further information about this proposed class call the SMEG office on (0114) 253 6700 or visit www.sheffieldMEGroup.co.uk

The group’s next network meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2pm till 4pm, at Chesterfield Library. Talks on wellbeing and update on benefit changes.
