Football fans clashed in Chesterfield following a match between Spireites and arch-rivals Stags.
The game, at the Proact today (Saturday, September 28) saw Chesterfield FC lose their unbeaten record to Mansfield.
But following the match supporters from both sides clashed with police outside the stadium.
Officers had increased security for game, as the two sides met for the first time since 2008 for the sell-out match.
Police in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire said they had worked closely with both clubs for a number of weeks to maximise the safety of the fans and the public on the day.
Football intelligence officer PC Dave Wright said: “There is always a very small minority who go out of their way to spoil it for the majority.
“We are never complacent and we will have officers ready to deal with any incidents of disorder.”
