Calling all animal lovers! Chesterfield’s RSPCA has launched a purr-fect charity calendar to help raise funds for our furry and feathered friends.
The calendar has been created in associated with the Derbyshire Times and all images featured have been taken by our photographers.
Priced at £4.99, it is available at the Chesterfield Animal Centre on Spital Lane, the charity’s shop at the Market Hall, Peak Vets in Matlock, Spire Vets in Chesterfield, Chapel House Vets in Chesterfield and the Derbyshire Times on Spire Walk.
The calendar features rescue animals from the North Derbyshire region who came to the centre in need of veterinary attention, rehabilitation, care and love.
Julie Platts, supporter engagement manager at the branch, said: “With the support of our adopters, donors, volunteers and local community, we have been able to offer these gorgeous animals the second chances at a loving home that they so thoroughly deserve.
“This calendar is a year-long celebration of brighter futures and happy endings and we have been so privileged to have the support of the Derbyshire Times in producing the very special gift for our animals. We sincerely hope the public will purchase the calendar for family and friends this Christmas as every penny will benefit the animals at the RSPCA Chesterfield Animal Centre.”
The centre is undergoing a major refurbishment and unless it can revamp the whole site on Spital Lane it may be forced to close its doors.
The branch is an independent charity, separate from the national RSPCA, so must raise all the money needed to both keep the animal centre open and pay for the improvements.
Since opening its doors in the 1960s the charity has cared for thousands of animals but demand continues to rise – and the buildings are no longer fit for purpose. The aim is to have a fully modernised and updated base by the end of 2020.
On behalf of the RSPCA and the DT we wish you a happy year ahead filled with wagging tails, hearty purrs, twitching noses and chipper chirps.
