CHESTERFIELD: Rotarians’ gift to mayor’s appeal

Rotarians kicked off their 32nd charter anniversary celebrations at a showpiece football stadium.

Rotarians kicked off their 32nd charter anniversary celebrations at a showpiece football stadium.

Rodger Heathcote, president of Chesterfield Rotary Club, welcomed a gathering of 110, comprising club members and partners and visiting club members and their guests, to the town’s Proact Stadium.

He also welcomed the Mayor of Chesterfield, Cllr Don Parsons and his wife Diane, and later in the evening presented a donation of £200 to the mayor’s annual charity appeal.

District Governor David Ashley gave greetings from Rotary International president Sakuji Tanaka and also highlighted the community and international support by the club in this Rotary year.

The guest speaker was Alfie Moore who gave some amusing insights into his life as a police officer.

President Rodger thanked Past Presidents Clive Robbins and Roy Cutt for their organisation of the event and the Proact Stadium for the excellent meal and service. He closed the meeting with The Rotary Final Toast.
