On May Day, bank holiday Monday, the Chesterfield and District branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution were in action, this time with their souvenir stall at the Ashover May Day gala. Glorious wetaher and a good attendance for the event realised well over £100 worth of sales, thanks to souvenir secretary Tony Dale, and all the other volunteers who helped on the stall during the day

On Thursday morning, branch chairman, John Grubb, gave a talk about the lifeboats to 43 members of the Crosspool Probus Club, meeting at Stephen Hill Methodist Church in Sheffield. A lively session including some very searching questions from the audience ended with a very generous £80 donation from the Probus Club and its members.
