CHESTERFIELD: Public sector workers set to strike

Public sector workers are set to walk out in Chesterfield this afternoon as part of a national strike.

Staff at the Department for Work and Pensions office on Beetwell Street will take part in the strike from 1pm.

The Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union has called the action as part of an ongoing dispuit over pay, job cuts and working conditions.

Andrew Lloyd, PCS Midlands Regional Secretary, said: “Members are angry at the way the Government is treating them.

“The industrial action is a demonstration that they are not prepared to accept this treatment.”
