Hungry hordes turned out in their droves to watch as twelve men took on the first Chesterfield Versus Food eating challenge.
Chefs at The Market pub turned out the mammoth dishes at Saturday’s event, serving up portions weighing nearly four pounds and totalling around 4,000 calories.
In a race to the finish, the competitiors – who had all raised money for Ashgate Hospice – tucked into a huge burger, wings and sides. Finishing his plate in just 23 minutes was Chris Spencer, who was crowned champion.
Douglas Daniels, who owns the pub, said: “We are going to make it an annual thing. Chris was really steady through the whole thing, and his is the time to beat.”
The event raised £1500 for Ashgate Hospice.
