The North Derbyshire Association of Women’s Clubs (affiliated to the National Association of Women’s Clubs) held a celebratory dinner to commemorate their 55th anniversary at the Proact Stadium, Chesterfield.
The event was attended by 56 ladies of the association with guests of the Mayor of Chesterfield, Cllr Paul Christopher Stone, the Mayoress Mrs Barbara Wallace plus Mrs Julia Chapman, the chairman of the National Association of Women’s Clubs.
Ladies from the North Derbyshire Association Clubs at Brimington, Calow, Dronfield, Holme Hall, Inkersall, Kiveton and Stonebroom enjoyed a meal. The longest serving member of the North Derbyshire association, Mrs June Buck who is also the vice-chairman, cut the cake which had been made by Emma Mitchell..
The evening ended with a talk given by Mrs Kath Godfrey, a tour guide from Chatsworth House, who wore the costume of lady’s maid and spoke about that role at the three-day house parties held at Chatsworth House at the turn of the 19th/20th century.
All members of the executive committee had contributed to a very enjoyable evening.
