The Chesterfield-based North Derbyshire Motor Club participated in the “Captain’s Run”, a non-competitive outing from Chesterfield to Ollerton. Led by club captain Mick Clark, the convoy of vehicles belonging to both current and previous members enjoyed a leisurely drive through the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire countryside, before finishing at the Snooty Fox for a meal.
Meanwhile the club has held the second of its off-road driving days. Held in Brimington Common, and using a vehicle kindly supplied by Woodleigh Motors of Grassmoor, two events were held. The first was a “Skill-Driving” competition for the Barrow Cup. This was won by Richard Staniforth with a time of 78.62 seconds, followed by Matt Tomlinson on 79.67 and third was Joe Parkin (87.41).
This was followed by a “Speed-Driving” competition, which was for the Deane Cup. Matt Tomlinson was victorious in this with a time of 69.94, followed by Richard Staniforth (70.43), with Joe Parkin and Alan Chapman finishing joint third (71.25).
The club also arranges several social events, one being the archery tournament. This popular event is staged over two days, the first being held at Oxcroft under the guidance of Custom Built Archery. The winner was Joe Parkin with a score of 154, with Matt Tomlinson runner-up (133) and John Staniforth third (128).
