CHESTERFIELD MP Toby Perkins visited Codfella’s Fish and Chip Shop to mark National Chip Week.
Mr Perkins received a warm welcome from town fryers Giannis and Maria Florentzidis before discussing the challenges small business and the catering industry are facing.
He said: “Fish and chip shops are a well loved feature of communities and local economies across Britain, so I am delighted to celebrate National Chip Week with Giannis and Maria.”
The Shadow Minister for Small Business, added: “Businesses like Codfella’s are so important to get the jobs and growth we need in our economy.
“With growth flat lining, I am calling on the Government to do more to support small businesses through measures like a temporary VAT cut, a NI holiday for small firms and assistance for more SMEs to get access to finance.”
