The Chesterfield-based North Derbyshire Motor Club recently held The Roundabouts Trial, which was organised by Helen Linacre and John Staniforth. This event started from Lockoford Lane and passed through Newbold, Brimington and Staveley, before being halted in Barrow Hill, as extensive flooding caused the closure of Station Road.
It was decided to declare the result as at the end of the second check, giving victory to Anne and Norman Buck (lost 4), with Alan Chapman and Angela Parkin second (lost 5) and Chris Miller and Richard Staniforth third (lost 10). After the aborted finish, drivers then journeyed to the scheduled finish, the Bondhay Golf Club near Worksop for Sunday lunch.
Meanwhile, the club has held the second of this year’s pool days. As usual, this was held at Alfreton Snooker Centre, with two games being played. The first was won by Matt Tomlinson, who beat John Staniforth in the final, while John had revenge in the second, beating Norman Buck in the final.
A competition in the club newsletter, the Stag Gazette, to win car care products, was won by Cliff Bennett.
