Stunning student, Melanie Kollatou, has the Miss England crown in her sight after landing a place in the final.
The 22-year-old beauty, from Brimington, will be vying for the top spot in the nationwide modelling competition, on June 15 in Torquay.
Melanie, a former Netherthorpe school pupil who is currently studying for a Masters in chemistry at the University of Nottingham, said she made the final despite being hospitalised during the previous round.
“During the semi-final, we had to do some fitness, and a rib injury from weeks ago flared up” she said.
“So I am quite proud that I still managed to get through.”
She beat off competition from 67 others in the semi-final to be named one of just six judges choice finalists.
For the final, Melanie will have to prove her worth against more the 60 women again in the race for the title of Miss England.
