The Chesterfield-based North Derbyshire Motor Club recently held the second trial of the 2013 season. Organised by Anne and Norman Buck, the Country Lanes trial for the Woodhead Cup saw riders start from Dronfield and pass through Curbar, Stoney Middleton and Litton before finishing for Sunday lunch at the Crispin Inn at Great Longstone. This 27-mile trial was won by Matt Tomlinson and Andy Walker with two points, with Alan Chapman and Angela Parkin runners-up (one point) and John Staniforth and Helen Linacre (minus five) third.
Fifteen members recently enjoyed a go-kart tournament at Swains Centre at Buxton. The four heats were won by Andy Turner, Neil Bennett, Lee Ingham and Alan Chapman. However the final was won by Rachael Chapman, with Neil Bennett second and Lee Ingham third.
The club has recently staged their premier social event, the Herman Boyes Trophy. Held in memory of a former club social secretary, this was the 67th staging of this event. As usual it was competed for at both dominoes and darts, with the overall winner being Lisa Chapman who defeated Alan Chapman in the final.
A competition in the club newsletter, the Stag Gazette, to win car care products was won by Richard Staniforth.
The club welcomed Andy Turner, Nathan Wilkins, Neil Keyworth and Sarah Steer as new members of the club.
