Chairman, Mrs Alva deChiro welcomed 53 ladies, including two new members, and one visitor to the October meeting of Chesterfield Morning Townswomen’s Guild.

She presented a 25-year long service badge to Mrs June Parkinson and 10-year badges to Mrs Jo Presswood and Mrs Maureen Greaves.

During the lively meeting members were reminded of forthcoming events including the Allsorts Christmas Fair at Eastwood Hall on November 29, the guild Christmas party on December 19 and the New Year lunch at the Sandpiper Hotel on January 23.

Mrs Cheris Gray ran a successful book stall which raised £19.50 which will go towards hosting two of the branch’s members at the AGM in Cardiff in June 2014.

Talk Shop on November 5 will be June Beckingham talking about her year as Mayor.

Thespians amongst the members were reminded that there would be a rehearsal on October 31 and November 28 for the Christmas entertainment.

The morning was rounded off with a very interesting talk by Sue Mallinson entitled “Footprints on the Sand of Time”.
