CHESTERFIELD: Keith Fanshawe elected chairman of family history society

Chesterfield & district Family History Society held its September meeting at St Hugh’s RC Church, Littlemoor.

The chairman, Keith Fanshawe, welcomed members and guests to the AGM at which the following officials were elected: chairman - Keith Fanshawe, vice-chairman - Marion Yeldham, Secretary - Dena Fanshawe, treasurer - Keith Feltham, programme organiser - Neil Wilson, editor and magazine co-ordinator - Carol Morris, committee members - Terry Cocking and Lynee Earland.

After the AGM, Tony Stubbs gave a talk entitled “RFC/RAF Family connections; a brief history of the RFC/RAF and my father’s experience”. The vote of thanks was given by Marion Yeldham.

The raffle winners were Keith Feltham, Sheila Feltham, Pamela Kemp and Brian Mason.

The society’s next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 1, at 7.30pm when members will have the opportunity to research their own family history using the society’s resources (library, microfiche of census returns and the internet).
