CHESTERFIELD: Inquests open into biker deaths

Inquests have been opened and adjourned today after three motorcyclists died in a crash last weekend.

Andrew Siddall, 49, of Holbrook Way, North Wingfield, and his passenger Robert Newton, 45, of Birchwood Crescent, Boythorpe, died when their bike collided with a motorcycle ridden by David Wilson, 46, of Powley Road, Sheffield, outside the Hunloke Arms on the A61 in Wingerworth at about 3pm last Saturday, Chesterfield Coroners’ Court heard this afternoon.

On Wednesday, an inquest was opened and adjourned into the death of another motorcyclist who was killed when his bike collided with a car.

Stephen Cocking, 53, of Oadby Drive, Hasland, was riding down Strines Road on Saturday when he took a left on to the Snake Pass and collided with a car, the inquest heard.

• The four mens’ inquests were adjourned to a date to be set.

Anyone with information about the collisions should call police on 101. Derbyshire road safety partnership is urging bikers to take caution when out over the summer, which is peak season for riding.
