CHESTERFIELD: Inner Wheel’s new president chooses Ashgate Hospice and air ambulance as charities

Members of the Inner Wheel Club of Chesterfield met at The Olde House Hotel on July 5, when the immediate past president Adrienne Handley welcomed members and introduced our new president Ann Elliott, she presented Ann with her badge of office and wished her well for coming year which will be the 90th Inner Wheel year.

Rotary president Mike Cudzich brought greetings from Rotary and presented president Ann with a bouquet, he was accompanied by Rtn Kuttaiba Mohamad who wished Ann a happy and successful year and presented her with a floral arrangement. Mrs Maureen Strelley accepted the role of vice-president.

President Ann’s charities for the year are Ashgate Hospice and Derby, Rutland & Leicester Air Ambulance, she asked Rotary president to take her good wishes back to his club and hope they would share joint events during her year of office. President Ann outlined her programme of events during the coming year which include an August Friendship meeting with guests and members from Chesterfield Scarsdale Club, a stall at the Rotary Classic Car and Bike Show at Ashover to be held on July 28, a fashion show at The Forge, Dronfield by “She-She” and in the 90th year of Inner Wheel outlined the club’s support for the District “Wheel Project” by informing members of an intention to visit London for two days taking in the Big Wheel and visiting the Queen’s coronation celebration display.

Members were informed speakers have been arranged for September, October and November and the club will host a Christmas fayre at St John’s Church, Brampton in November.

Long standing member Jean Williamson will be leaving the club due to re-location and she goes with best wishes of members.

The club’s meeting was attended by guest Celia Kelly, friend of member Anne Lowe.

The Rose Bowl was taken to Janet Hubbard recovering from surgery.
