The Inner Wheel Club of Chesterfield met at The Olde House Hotel on Friday, September 6. President Ann announced it was an honour to carry out the induction ceremony of three new members, Heather Fox, Celia Kelly and Joan Whitby, wife of Rotarian Stuart Whitby.
A quiz testing culinary skills was won by Jenny Windle’s table.
Treasurer Pam Hare announced she had received a letter of thanks from Ashgate Hospice for the club’s donation of £2,600 collected at various charitable events during the year and members wish to thank the general public who supported the Christmas Extravaganza, Santa’s Sleigh, stalls at Classic Car and Bike Shows plus coffee mornings and raffles.
President Ann reported on a successful joint barbecue event with Rotarians at the home of Rtn Brian White and his wife Heather for which Rotary donated £50 for Inner Wheel’s charity account as a thank you for providing the sweets.
Mary Mohamad hosted a bring and buy sale at her home which raised in the region of £150.
Member Doreen Madin agreed to continue with the knit and natter sessions this year at her home and Social and Services Chairman Liz Keeton reported a trip to a renovated cottage at Bonsall, “Dreamboats and Petticoats” at the Winding Wheel and a visit to Haddon Hall for lunch over the coming weeks. The Past President’s Lunch will be held at The Peacock, Cutthorpe later in September.
The Rose Bowl was presented to Cath Bradley in celebration of her 60th birthday and congratulations were in order for Elaine Jenkins and Rotarian husband David who celebrated 65 years of marriage.
