BIG-HEARTED fundraisers have begun backing the Derbyshire Times’ £25,000 Ashgate Hospice Appeal with fantastic fundraising endeavours.
Sponsored runners Kelly Donaldson and Faye Brown, of Chesterfield, will be taking on the Brighton Marathon on April 14 and hope to raise more than £1,000 for the hospice, on Ashgate Road, Chesterfield.
Kelly said: “We’ve both had friends and family who have benefitted from the hospice so this means a lot to us and especially because the charity helps so many people in the area.”
Those wanting to sponsor Faye, 27, and Kelly, 26, can do so by visiting www.justgiving.com/fayeandkelly for details.
Fundraiser Angela Lane and family, of Linacre Woods, Cutthorpe, are also hosting an evening’s entertainment at the Olde House Pub, on Loundsley Green Road, Chesterfield, with a comedy drag act and a raffle and tickets are now available.
She said: “I lost my mum and step-mum to cancer and because the hospice does so much to help seriously ill people we decided we wanted to help.
“We raised over £1,000 last year for the hospice with a hypnotist evening and this time we aim to raise about £1,200.”
Tickets for the event which takes place from 7pm, on October 25, cost £10 each and are available now by calling Angela on 07411 006098 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
Lynne Rouse, who is a Derbyshire primary care trust dinner lady from Brampton, completed a sponsored slim and raised £120 for the DT appeal.
The Crispin pub, on Ashgate Road, Chesterfield, is holding a fundraising weekend from 7pm, on Friday, with a Buskers music evening, followed by a kids’ disco from 3pm until 6pm on Saturday with a singer in the evening and there will be a charity quiz on Sunday evening.
