TOWN centre streets turned into a sea of blue and white as victorious Chesterfield FC attended their civic reception this evening.

There was a carnival atmosphere as scores of cheerful supporters – waving flags, banners and scarves – lined the route to celebrate the Spireites championship-winning season in League Two.

Club management – including manager John Sheridan – and star players arrived at Chesterfield Town Hall greeted by hundreds of chanting and singing fans following an open top bus tour from the B2Net Stadium on Whittington Moor.

There was a balcony appearance by players and management who showed off the the npower League Two Championship Trophy and the Youth Alliance League Trophy.

The management and players were given a warm welcome by the Mayor, Cllr Peter Barr, and the leader of the council, Cllr John Burrows.
