A young organist has been appointed at Rose Hill United Reform Church in Chesterfield to replace the now retired musician, Gordon Johnson.

Rachel Lenthall – an English and music graduate from Bangor University – will play for all services including weddings and funerals.

She said she acknowledges that she has a hard act to follow taking over from Mr Johnson, who graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and spent 40 years at the church before retiring.

His departure was acknowledged by the congregation with an appropriate gift. Rose Hill church wish both of them well.
