A church bearing remarkable similarities to Chesterfield’s iconic Crooked Spire has a starring role on primetime TV.

An unusual twisted spire appears in the new advert by Britain’s favourite chip maker, McCain.

The much-loved company was inspired by the quirkiness of the famous landmark.

Mark Hodge, of McCain, said: “The new ad really encapsulates the joy you feel when eating chips and the spire fits in perfectly with McCain’s world.”

The 30-second Chips for Tea advert is part of McCain’s biggest ever marketing campaign, Happy Days, which will run until late October.

It shows a man running into several exciting situations on his way home to have chips for tea.
