CHESTERFIELD CHAMPION: ‘The town is a fantastic hub for many local businesses’

I am Guy Tomlinson and I’ve lived in Chesterfield for the past ten years.

I’ll be celebrating my 51st birthday this year and am the proud father of one son.

I have built up my web design development and search engine optimisation company SEO CoPilot, providing support to businesses and individuals in the local area and worldwide.

I love living and working in Chesterfield, it’s a fantastic hub for many local companies and it’s a town with a rich and proud local history.

I first started SEO CoPilot off my own bat in February 2012 from a home office, and we’ve since expanded the enterprise to a team of eight, operating from offices near the town centre.

We’re an SEO and web design business with a difference – we’re driven to help Chesterfield businesses and people alike to get themselves found on the top spots of Google for their respective services or products.

1. What’s your best memory of the town?

I’ve always lived near Chesterfield and have been lucky enough to witness its markets first-hand, but I will always remember the Christmas spectacles they put on every winter.

The lights and seasonal markets have been memorable, and the history and atmosphere of the town have helped make the Christmas markets stand out.

2. What development do you think will make the biggest difference to the town?

I feel that developments like Chesterfield Waterside will help bring people from further afield to enjoy Chesterfield and encourage more to explore and maybe even set up home or trade here. This development is going to be fantastic in the warmer months and I will certainly be making the most of it.

3. How would you describe Chesterfield to someone who has never visited?

Chesterfield is a great place to get connected with history as it’s not only on the doorstep of the Peak District, but it also has a lot of rich history thanks to sites like the Revolution House and the ever-iconic Crooked Spire.

4. What are the positives of running a business here?

Chesterfield is unbelievably well connected. Not only are there a wealth of friendly local businesses and tradespeople of all walks and measures, but if you need to get around to other cities you can do so via the nearby M1 or the town’s fantastic railway links.

5. Who or what do you turn to in Chesterfield for business advice?

I only ever need to talk to a few of my close friends in business for support. Chesterfield is tightly-connected with scores of specialists in a whole host of areas, meaning no one is ever short on advice where it counts.

6. Why did you choose to base your business in Chesterfield?

I actually set up home here before I set up my business, so it made sense. It soon dawned on me, however, that the town has the perfect connections and local support for SEO CoPilot to thrive.

7. Who do you admire in the community?

Anyone looking to make a change and improve the town gets my admiration.
