The Chesterfield Carnival parade has been cancelled today after a young girl was injured at the event yesterday.
Organisers told festival-goers the parade had to be called off after an accident outside the site involving the girl.
They said: “There was an accident yesterday that, I am sure everybody will respect, has meant a reassessment of the situation.
“Please be assured this is a decision that nobody wanted to make however, we had no choice. We all agree that avoiding an accident is more important than any parade.”
The girl is said to be shaken up and bruised following the accident.
The carnival is running as normal except for the closure of Stand Road Park.
Any floats are to park on Racecourse Road which will closed for the day.
