Staff at a Chesterfield care home are celebrating after scooping a top award.
Springbank House, on Ashgate Road, has beaten off tough competition to be named East Midlands Regional Care Team of 2014.
The award – which was handed out at the glittering Great British Care Awards ceremony in Nottingham – recognised staff for being committed to the dignity and privacy of home residents and also showing excellent communication skills.
Home manager Dorothy Mbulo, who attended the ceremony and collected the award along with a number of fellow colleagues, said: “We were delighted to receive this honour – I am extremely proud of the entire team.
“Our residents come first in everything we do and we work to involve them, and their families, in the planning and running of the home to ensure we are meeting their needs and exploring ways in which we can continue to improve the care we provide – it’s great our efforts have made a difference.”
Mandy Vernon, operations director for Hill Care group, which owns Springbank House, nominated the team for the award.
She said: “I wanted to recognise their hard work and dedication on behalf of the relatives and residents.”
The Springbank House team will now go on to the finals of the national awards in London in April next year.
