The Chesterfield Canal Trust has received another grant to restore its historic working boat known as the Python.
National Historic Ships UK has made a £1,000 award towards the cost of repairs to the hull.
Python is an 86-year-old ex-British Waterways working boat and it is on the Register of National Historic Vessels. It was acquired by the Trust in 2009 and is used for promotional events and canal maintenance. The Inland Waterways Association has already stepped in with a major grant to help rebuild its corroded hull. It is hoped Python will return to the Chesterfield Canal in the autumn.
Spokesman Jan Warsop said: “We’re very grateful to NHS UK. We’re delighted this well loved vessel can now receive the love and attention she deserves.”
