Members of Chesterfield and District Caledonian Association held their annual Burns’ dinner and dance.

Members of Chesterfield and District Caledonian Association held their annual Burns’ dinner and dance.

President Mark Macartney welcomed the company of 76 to the Chesterfield Hotel, stating that the attendance was up on last year.

Guests included the president of the Caledonian Society of Doncaster, Harry Sheach, and his consort, Nancy Sheach.

The haggis was piped in by piper Gordon Dale and was addressed by vice-president Ian Gordon.

After dinner, the Master of Ceremonies for the evening, past president Tim Cobb proposed the Loyal Toast, committee members Ellen Kinch proposed the Immortal Memory, the Toast to the Lasses was proposed by association member Bill Steel. Bill also sung a sentimental song to his wife, Nancy.

Assocation members Rob Dorrance and Wullie McRobert provided the entertainment for dancing, having travelled down from Dumfriesshire, the president’s home county.

In his closing speech, the president reminded everyone of the next event, A Romp through the Middle East, presented by Judith and Tim Cobb.
