MEMBERS of Alfreton Inner Wheel were joined by guests from across the district at the club’s 65th charter celebration.

Guests of honour at the event in Riddings Community Centre were district chairman Elaine Harrison, association president Pam McConnell, Alfreton Rotary vice-president Terry Marshall and Rotary district governor Val Leivers.

President Vera Dilks also welcomed Inner Wheel members from 15 Inner Wheel Clubs, and representatives of Soroptomist International of Amber Valley, Alfreton Tangent, Alfreton Ladies Probus, Alfreton Wives Group and Ripley P.B.W.

An anniversary cake made by district first vice-chairman Sue Curley, was cut by president Vera and district chairman Elaine.

The district chairman received a cheque for her charity, the Special Care Baby Unit at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, and another for her personally as a memento of her year in office.

Association president Pam brought greetings from the association, Alfreton Rotary vice-president Terry brought greetings from Alfreton Rotary Club and presented Alfreton president Vera with flowers.

The vote of thanks was given by Alfreton Inner Wheel vice-president Jean Stevenson, and the reply on behalf of the visitors was given by Heanor Inner Wheel member Carolynne Craven.

Entertainment was provided by Reflections, a musical duo of flautist Annette Negus and guitarist James Rippingale.
