Charity funding will train people for work

Trustees, staff and volunteers working for the charity Elmton & Creswell Village Company are celebrating the good news that the Village Company has been awarded the charity funding to upskill people who are out of work for Employment in the Modern Age, including the provision of accreditation. Free training will begin on January 16, 2012, and run throughout to March 31, 2013.

Training courses will be based in Limestone House and Limestone Studio, Elmton Road, Creswell, and help with transport costs can be given to the learner. In addition to this free in-house training the Limestone House minibus will go out into the villages in the Coalfields area, on Tuesday and Friday mornings, complete with a tutor and will be fully equipped with computer equipment and accessories, taking the training nearer to the learner. The free training course on the minibus will be Computers for Beginners. The minibus will be based in the Creswell Model Village, Shirebrook, Whitwell and Bolsover Castle Estate initially. There will be free computer training every week day in Limestone House which will include Computers for Beginners, Computers for Intermediates, Using Computers to Seek work also training on computers for an Open College Network qualification (level 1 or level 2) in Excel spreadsheets or Word Processing or Powerpoint Presentation.

Other free training courses available in Limestone House, on some Mondays will be Health and Safety Level 2 and Food Safety Level 2. Another free training course in Limestone House on Thursday mornings from January 19, 2012, is Preparation for Jobseeking, including interview skills, applying for a job, letter writing, communication skills and other job-seeking skills.

The free training courses in Limestone Studio include First Aid, Filming – using video cameras, on Wednesday afternoons and Introduction to Sound Engineering/Audio recording on Tuesdays from 10am to 2.30pm, starting February 2012.
