Much-loved Caroline Humpherson died in January 2012 aged 23 after suffering an epileptic seizure.

Now her cousin, Dale Wilson, 28, of Thanet Street, Clay Cross, has organised the event at Tupton Hall football pitch on Saturday, March 25 to raise awareness for Epilepsy Action.

Dale said: “She was a really outgoing and bubbly person.

“She loved going out and partying like any other young person.”

Caroline was diagnosed with epilepsy aged eight but she did not let her condition stop her from doing the things she loved.

She enjoyed going on holidays, socialising with friends and spending time with all of her family.

She studied events management at Sheffield Hallam University in 2010.

“It was a massive shock when it happened,” Dale said.

“We got the call one day and we just could not believe it.

“She had always had seizures but we never thought it would happen.

Dale, a soon-to-be teaching assistant, added: “I vividly remember the funeral because it wasn’t exactly a small church but there were so many people there on the day. People were standing everywhere possible in the church and even queued right back out of the door just to say their last respects. My auntie’s house was never empty running up to the funeral with friends and family constantly there bringing food and drink and supporting each other. The family really pulled together in a big way.”

Caroline lived in Lisburn in Northern Ireland and her older brother Robert and mum Jayne are flying over for the event.

The 11-a-side football match, which starts at 11am, will also include a raffle, face painting and a penalty shoot-out competition.
