The CREATOR of givingabit.com, the shopping site that enables individuals to support a charity when they shop, will be joining a team of fundraising friends on a sledging challenge in honour of Captain Scott’s legendary push to the South Pole.

Nick Humphreys, founder of givingabit.com, is part of a team of 11 men that will haul 11 sledges for 11 miles across the Peak District in December 2011 to raise money for the Peak District Mountain Rescue Service.

Nick said: “We always get together to undertake a challenge in the Peak District every year and we decided to do something for charity.

“The Captain Scott story is one of the greatest human endeavours and very close to the hearts of the British and we will be marking its centenary so it was a good idea to try and re-enact that heroic effort in our own small way.

“We aim to re-enact part of the journey as authentically as we can. At the end of the challenge we’ll all go out to the pub together – and may be some time!”

Anyone wishing to support the re-enactment can register on givingabit.com and retailers will donate a percentage of all purchases made to the Mountain Rescue Service. Support can also be made at www.justgiving.com/captainscott.
